Monday 23 Jul 2012

Following Bradley Wiggins' success in the Tour de France, British cycling has been given another boost  with Cyclist Sir Chris Hoy being chosen to carry the Olympic flag for Team GB at the opening ceremony on Friday.
The four-time Olympic gold medal winner polled the most number of votes among the 542 members of the British team.

Sir Chris said: "I'm absolutely delighted and honoured to have been voted as the flag bearer for Team GB."
"To lead out your team at a home Olympics is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity and one that that I can't wait to experience in just a few days time."

With the GB cyclists set to perform well in the Olympics as well, this is all welcome publicity for cycling in general. Long may this success continue to encourage the British public to get on their bikes!
