Elephant and Castle roundabouts

According to the Times newspaper, cyclists have identified the Elephant and Caslte roundabout in London as the junction at which they are most concerned cycling on. As we reported back in March that it is officially the most dangerous junction in London in terms of reported cycling injuries, it would appear their concerns are justified. Between 2005 and 2010, there have been a massive 125 reported cyclist injuries on the North and South Elephant and Castle Roundabout including 11 serious and one fatal.

Another area of concern highlighted in London was the Kings Cross / York Way junction. Whilst not appearing on the top 20 list of most dangerous London junctions, the one way system around Kings Cross station is the site of  frequent protest rides, one of which has 25 reported cyclist injuries in just 6 years on the short 1/2 mile ride.

Outside of London, recently featuring fourth in our list of most dangerous Bristol junctions, James Barton Roundabout in Bristol was another one that was highlighted.

Roundabouts featured heavily in the junctions highlighted by the Times, as South Gosforth Roundabout in NewcastleBrook Hill Roundabout in Sheffield and Paradise Circus in Birmingham were also mentioned.
