Manchester Curry Mile

New figures compiled using the accident hotspot feature on our map show that since 2006, there have been 65 collisions where cyclists have been injured on Wilmslow Road, between Moss Lane East and Claremont Road – more than anywhere else in the city.

Junctions on Deansgate, Chester Road, Stockport Road, Barlow Moor Road and Bolton Road all feature highly in a table compiled from government crash data.

Tim Beasley said: "Accidents happen for many reasons, but when you get some many crashes on one particular location, action should be taken." Cycling campaigners say Wilmslow Road is bound to top the list because it is the busiest bike route in the city, with hundreds of students and workers riding along it every day.

The most dangerous junctions...
Wilmslow Road/ Wilbraham Road/ Moseley Road - 25
Wilmslow Road/ Walmer Street - 25
