What happened?

Our client was cycling north on Lewisham Way, New Cross, London when he passed a bus that was stationary at a bus stop. He manoeuvred his bike back into the Bus Lane once the pass was complete. A taxi had done the same and was now following too close behind. Our client attempted to move to the left of the road to allow the taxi to pass as he felt in danger due to its ever decreasing proximity to his back wheel. The taxi continued accelerating and a collision occurred when the driver left insufficient space during the pass. The back end of the taxi hit our client’s handlebars which caused them to turn violently to the left and throw him to the ground.
